Tips & Tricks

Here's a bunch of helpful tips, tricks and challenges that will help you to transform the way you look at exercise - including ways to make things like treadmill running more fun

This section is a work in progress - so check back for more content soon!

Running

Outdoor running

Slow it down, make it like meditation - focus on breathing and taking in the scenery and you'll probably find yourself able to go further, and enjoy it more

How? By making your aim: to keep the lowest heart rate/average heart rate as possible

Why? Doing this is a more effective way of actually slowing your running pace down and instead focusing on your breathing, taking in the scenery and its a key thing when it comes to enjoying running - plus long SLOW runs are the key to building base cardio

Treadmill running

Make it less boring

I used to find treadmill running a complete bore, that was until I did the following:

I found a series that I wanted to watch/binge, and made it something I could only watch whilst on the treadmill - essentially, I was then able to relax and enjoy the thing I wanted to watch, whilst also benefitting from exercise

Set a challenge or progressively level it up

Set the treadmill to a starting speed, for example 9kph, and every minute increase the speed by 0.1kph - set yourself a goal, for example 10.5kph to reach, or see how far you can go.
Once you hit your goal, next time - set the incline to 0.5% and try the same - and so on!

Gym

Track your progress to ensure you stay motivated, and can actually see your progression!

Android: Download an app called "fitnotes" it's completely free and you can set up your workout routines, and track your progress
